Greetings from Arizona!
I hope your Monday is off to a great start.
Whether you’re reading this with a steaming cup of coffee at the start of your day, over lunch at your desk, with your beverage of choice to wind down at night, or anywhere in between, I’m honored to get to be a part of your day.
One Order of Business
Pitchers and catchers report in 12 days. TWELVE DAYS!
Back when I restarted this newsletter, I said that I would only be able to write one post per month once the season starts. I still feel that’s the best thing to commit to, but I love sharing the most interesting ideas I’ve found with you.
I will commit to sending one email on the first Monday of each month between now and September, but I may decide to send another on the 3rd Monday if I’m able.
It will all just depend on what I’m able to do without driving myself insane.
Now onto the good stuff…
I Published a New Article
It’s called Answering the Contrarian Question and is the second in what I suspect will be many posts trying to understand Peter Thiel’s worldview as outlined in his book, Zero to One.
You don’t know how much you know until you know how much you don’t know.
This is also one of the reasons I don’t like LinkedIn, which I’ll probably end up writing a post about.
Signaling a Desire to Learn
My former boss, Kyle Boddy, put out a fuego tweet the other day.
On the topic of learning
I understand things really well if you plot them on a graph, so this graph on the effectiveness of different techniques for learning really hit me.
Sometimes I feel like I’m David Perell’s unofficial PR man.
What can I say? The man puts out great stuff.
He did it again on this thoughtful piece on how surveillance can inhibit us from making changes in our life. I particularly enjoyed this quote:
“The problem is worse on social media platforms where we surround ourselves with people from our past. More practically, people would work on riskier but more ambitious projects if they left Instagram. Trapped by the judgment of our peers, we stop taking risks or trusting ourselves.
That’s all for this week’s newsletter. Like I mentioned at the very top, the next guaranteed email you’ll get from me will come on Monday, March 2! But I may send another if I’m able.
If you come across any ideas that you send my way, please do so! You can email them to me at email@example.com
Have a great week!
